quarinten/hospital/breeder tank?
i plan on setting up a tank for this and i have a few questions
what is the best size for this or does any old tank work?
is there any special equipment should i have in it aside from the norm (filter heater lighting)?
best way to keep the tank cycled?
any other info that you can think of would be appreciated.

Well, as for size it needs to at least be big enough to work for your biggest fish. Or a spawn of whatever you may breed. Seems like mine (I have two) always have something in them these days, but to keep the filters cycled when not in use I just shove the media in my running tanks' filters. You'll need heater, filter, and I like to put in an air stone.
I like to keep mine bare of everything else, because when you use it for QT or hospital, anything extra in there is just another place for bad bacteria to hide.

I would say that for a breeding tank, if you were breeding something under 5 inches, you'd do well with a 20 long-30 long aquarium. For a hospital, as big as the fish requires and for a quarantine tank, you want to plan about the biggest fish you'll get so maybe a 30...

you really have to keep them separate...quarantine being totally separate from the others..i agree with phlyer..."BARE"....nothing but heater airstone and filter...it's own net also..i would also keep a few mystery snails in the tank to keep it cycled..remove them when you have to treat...after treatments are complete do several large water changes and put the snails back in..
