i would say not. they get to be 20 inches which is too small for a 47.

Even I won't want to keep one of those. They are one of the most aggressive fish and will kill anything that they are in with. First you wanted bichirs, then snakeheads, now one of these! Mabey you should chill out a bit and go buy some guppies.

If you have a big enough tank with enough hiding places, pH of around 7, you can keep virtually any fish together as long as all the fish are around the same size and these two groups of fish are avioded:
Serrasalmus
Tetradon
(figure eights and dwarfs are the
exception).

I keep a successful community of fish in a 4 foot tank including the following families:
Cichlids, tetras, loaches, gouramis, barbs, rainbows, livebearers, killiefish, catfish, puffers.

yeah they get way too big, are way too mean, and as mentioned, will kill anything, maybe even your cat (if you have one, ive heard a story) they will jump out of the tank and might at one point.

I will take your advice, I can't get my tank now for another few weeks, so I was just rerading up and keep stumbling across weird fish, I was just keeping my options open,
I have seen these before what about these?

Sorry, man... You're going to have to stay away from all those fish unless you get at least a 125, in my opinion... We seem to have the same taste in fish, so I know where you're coming from with what you want to get. The Siamese tiger fish in the photos is a fish I've wanted for years, but I haven't gotten any because I don't have a big enough tank. If you recall from the other thread where I offered you advice, I have a 125 gallon tank... And I don't think it's big enough for those fish.

Don't ever forget (especially in this hobby) that some things are bad ideas, even if you find that a lot of people have already done it... Like putting a wolf fish in a 31 gallon tank.

I think you're doing a great job on researching your fish before you buy them, btw... But you should probably wait to try out the exotic predators for a few years, until you know more about the hobby and all the types of fish...When you're the one telling the newcomers that they can't have a Polypterus endlicheri endlicheri and an Arrowana in a ten gallon...

Keep up the research, just don't get discouraged when we keep saying no.

Unless you've changed something we don't know about, you should be fine.
