Fish got eaten :/ underfeeding?
In my tank Ive got,
2 x 3 spot gouramis
3 x Tin Foil Barbs
5 x Red Eyed Tetra
1 x Bala Shark
and now Rip, my red Betta.
I was pretty confident that they were eating fine, everything in there is very timid, nothing messes with each-other, everything was peaceful. I had a male Betta in there for about a month. He was doing great, then I couldn't find him yesterday, didn't think much of it, but today I found him, er well whats left of him. Just a head and a tiny part of his body, no fins and all stomach area eaten and one of the Gouramis going to town on it. I know its late, but Im worried, am I not feeding them enough? Was it a fluke?
Thanks guys!

From my understanding gouramis do not get along with Bettas exp. with the bright color.

Its possible a fish could have killed him. But its also possible he died for some reason and the other fish had a feasted on his dead body... Lots of my fish do this..

Gouramis, bala sharks and bettas are all gressive, so they could have had a "tank brawl." But also your fih could have died for some unknown reason (may not have adjusted to the water) and was later eaten.

I used to have a Bala shark and he was vary peaceful fish. I ended up getting rid of it because it was to stocked to fit more Bala sharks.
Anyways I'd bet the betta and the Gouramis brawled. Both fighting for territory in the tank. Both need there own "spot" and one of them crossed the line. Just like a gang war with bloods and crips lol.
Anyways that's what I think happend the betta won't just die on its own. And all the other fish are fine. If one dies from a illness in the tank then chances are they all would have the same illness.

I don't know if bettas and gouramis would do well together, but it's worth a try. Just make sure you slowly introduce the betta. Gouramis aren't as aggressive as bettas.

Both are territorial. Whether they work out a boundary line or kill each other will depend on the temperament of the fish and the size of the tank. My experience has been 1 gourami, betta or cichlid per tank is almost always fine, but the second is hit or miss. Because it is likely to end poorly, I don't recommend it.
Of course I once had pearl gouramis, angels, and a betta in a 55 with some neons. The neons went first as angel snacks.

my orangey pink betta attacks orange platies but not red platies. The 2 red bettas on the other hand chum togehter and attack the orangey one . Go figure.
