Molly tail
I have some dalmatian mollies that have the spikes at the end of their tail what do they call the spikes? I have seen Mollies that have the spikes and other of the same kind that don't? I hope the stores don't clip their tails to make them look like that because my adult dalmatian mollies have the spikes on the tail and their fry don't which makes me question things. Will the fry develop spikes as they mature?

I expect that some will. Black & silver mollies can be found with and without lyretails. If parents have them, its likely some fry will.

Loha, even though I'm not a mod, you seem to be right. If I ever have an answer, I would be specific as well as you all active FF members.

Just an update my molly fry are now starting their lyretails! Now I'm not worried anymore! Now my worry is the amount of fry I'm ending up with and what to do with them all! Even if I can give/sell some of them I'm going to have a hard time doing it!

go to walmart and get one of those 20 gallon plastic totes , a sponge filter and a heater and a 12" long piece of 2" PVC pipe...set it up just like a tank...but put the heater inside of the PVC so it doesn't melt the tub....you have a place to raise the fry until they are big enough to sell to a shop...

Sounds good to me I already have the plastic tub which is 40 gallons have a heater to just need a filter. For right now they are doing fine in the tank itself but at the rate i keep seeing new fry by summer my tank will be maxed out. I will also buy more bio cubes for my filter it has plenty of extra unused space to enhance it.
