Midnight Walmart trip turned expensive

Wife and i decided to hit up walmart last night around midnight for groceries and we made a stroll down the fish aisle for a heater for my 10g. We came across this lone dark blue betta in a dirty cup sitting on the shelf, my wife being who she is, picked it up and put it in the cart. After that, we walked by the live fish and saw 6 SD's in a 5g tank with about 20-30 of those glofish and 5 plecos. Knowing my local petsmart and lfs, these guys are about $8 a piece. The person working that department told me that they were only $3.50 a piece, so I bought all 6.

The betta now lives happily in my 10g all by himself, and the sd's now live happily in my 55 with my 2 angels and Pleco. My Columbian Sharks still have their own 55, so nothing new with them. Just figured I would share my story! Pics coming soon

Just keep your fingers crossed that your Walmart fish survive the week.

My first reaction is "Aack you put wal-mart fish in your main tank w/o QT, hope all your fish don't get sick and die." Though wal-mart fish departments vary with the area of the country and the person who cares for them, always QT, always. Hope you get lucky and all stay healthy.

The second reaction is "you know silver dollars outgrow 55s, right?" But this is longer term concern, you may have years.

Its nice to see someone enthused about fish, but be careful of those impulse buys.

Their all suprisingly in good health. The sd's were there less than 48 hours. Only worry is the betta, he was in a bad situation. But so far all is well.

Very well aware they will outgrow the 55. I got time to save for a bigger tank. But yes, it was impulse to buy, but also was prepared for what is needed. It's all good.
