My loaches make bad tankmates
My 10 gallon tank used to have, among other things, three ghost shrimp and one african dwarf frog. Then I put two dwarf loaches in to help with my snail issue... after a while of not seeing my frog or shrimp out and about and a weekend away from my fish tank, I decided to go seriously looking for them. I took out every decoration but still couldn't find any sign of them. After looking around on the internet a little bit, I found out that loaches and shrimp don't mix well so I am 99% sure that my shrimp were eaten and I'm wondering if these loaches could have possibly killed my frog as well? I know this sounds crazy, but I looked all around the outside of the tank so I know he didn't jump out, I'm just not sure what happened... does anyone know about loach compatibility with african dwarf frogs?

dwarf loaches.....as in sidthimunki loaches or another species....without a doubt the loach got the snails and the shrimp ; but i seriously doubt the frog...

If the frog died, though. I bet they would eat it. Most fish would. Did you get a whiff of ammonia when you opened the lid when you got home? Did you look for a little frog skull?
just FYI snails and shrimp are both invertebrates and most things that eat one will eat the other if they can.

Hmm, I wonder what happened to the frog then... I haven't looked for a little frog skull but there was a big ammonia spike in my tank, from almost zero to .5 ppm. Thankfully all the other fish are ok although I wouldn't mind if the loaches weren't...

This is the last straw, my loaches have been attacking my angelfish and they are in distress with their fins all torn up. I'm getting rid of them and selling them on aqua bid. Five rare Yasuhikotakia sidthimunki dwarf loaches for $50.00. Anyone interested?
