Hey guys I'm currently cycling my new 60g and looking to begin stocking. Going for a nice peaceful community. Based upon what I know is readily available locally:
(12) cardinal tetras
(6) cory cats
(6) zebra danio (currently in tank)
(4) praecox rainbow
(1) pleco
(4) shrimp of some sort
My question is; is this enough or is there room for more? Is there possibly a centerpiece fish that's timid enough to work with the others? Opinions!
Well, I'm not sure that they would work as a centerpiece, and you do need a few of them to keep them happy, but Glass Catfish are fascinating. I think the rainbow fish is a pretty good centerpiece fish though, and if you want to see if your tank is overstocked or not, I fount this website on another post in this forum and it has been extremely helpful to me.
Yea I've been using that site for awhile it's extremely helpful! I'm at like 110% filter efficiency and 89% stocked. I imagine that leaves room for a single centerpiece possibly? But I do agree full grown rainbows may suffice.
Theres plenty room for more fish. I don't use those stocking calculators. They aren't always accurate. The fish listed are pretty small, other than the pleco. If it were me, I would add a pair of dwarf cichlids of some kind. Rams, kribensis, apistogrammas.

The aforementioned chiclids wouldn't be too aggressive in a community of small fish?
Then Rams wouldn't be. As long as they had a spot to call thier own, you would be ok. My suggestion would possibly be an Angelfish or 2. Mine are awesome in my 55 with my silver dollars and pleco
No! Not at all. Normally they are only aggressive towards their own kind. The only time they would be aggressive is during breeding, and even then, it's really nothing.
