Lowering Nitrate
The past couple times I did a water test on my tank I noticed my nitrates were a little on the unsafe side. Should I leave it since my fish are doing well with it or should I try to make it safer? And are there any ways to lower nitrate?

Slowly up the % of water change and frequency until the levels are down.

I have high nitrates in my tank, but no nitrates in my tap. I am doing weekly water changes of 50% and I hope to get mine down to a safe level. I looked at the nitra-zorb and it says that it will lower nitrates, but I haven't tried it. I might one of these days though.

seachem matrix or pond matrix if you use a fast flowing filter or de-nitrate if you use a slow, never need to replace either like you do with nitrazorb, do you have a heavily stocked tank?

I am feeding plecocaine that I got from lohachata. I have to test my water and do a water change as I didn't do it on Sunday. Hopefully my nitrates are going down. But my fish are doing well, not getting sick at all.
Sorry to hijack this thread but I do have the same issue, bullseyejoey.

well im sure no one else has issues with lohachata's plecocaine so unless there is summin else in your tank capable of producing nitrates, maybe your fish are producing soo much poop that its inevitable to be high in nitrates, dunno if that could be the case? not a scientist so maybe others could help there lol.
