I used to be on fish forums a while ago, but honestly don't remember if this was one of them. But yeah, so now I'm new and have a couple questions.
I have 2 20 gallon tanks (1 long, 1 tall). each one has 1 convict, and one of them also has a yoyo loach and a kuhli loach. I can't put my convicts together because, well, there's a reason they're in 2 tanks. One of them is a hella nasty fish, equivalent to an aquatic satan. The other is just kid of evil (well, you guys know how convicts are, lol). The satan one is in with the loaches, I have no idea how they've managed to survive considering the convict has killed everything else I didn't move quick enough. They've been together for almost a year now. The problem is, since I'm moving for college I have to consolidate my fish tanks. My mom wants me to get rid of both the 20 gals, but I really adore my convicts and my brother has agreed to having one tank left (they decided to give my rooms to him...I'm pissed). So, I'm definently keeping the mellower convict (mellow convict...haha...thats like an oxymoron). I want to move the yoyo and the kuhli in with him, and I know this sounds stupid...but I'm worried the mellow con will be upset by having tankmates. He hasn't been with any since the other con basically killed him (I swear, he came back to life after floating on the top in an uncycled tank I moved him into after the attack). Well, he was with my pleco for a while and they didn't get along...my pleco hates everybody and everybody hates him. Another option is just moving the yoyo and kuhli into my 29 gal which is almost full and already has some other loaches, but my yoyo is one mean S.O.B. I'd be worried for my cories, they get chased enoughby my ram as is. So...umm...on to the real questions... 1. Where should I move my loaches to? 2. Can my single convict live in a 10 gal? Perhaps I should get him a 15? I'd like to go down in tank size...I already have the 10 gal though and I'd prefer not to spend more. Obviously giving him the 20 long would be the best option, as it will be available, but really I have a better chance of keeping my con with a smaller tank. 3. Think there are any small plecos that I could keep with my con that he WOULDN'T try to eat? 4. The aquatic satan (as well as the other con), grew up in a tank full of JDs, blood parrots, and other convicts. He tried to/managed to kill most of the fish he's lived with. Now he has to go. Do you think after a year of basically solitairy confinement, he could move back into the tank with the other mean cichlids and survive? Is he too old to find a mate in that tank? 5. Completely unrelated to convicts, lol. But I would like to get a couple of dwarf gouramis for my 29 gal. Here's whats in it already- 1 ram 3 zebra loaches 2 cories 5 glowlight tetras 2 otos 1 common pleco (I know, I know. but there is no way I'm returning this fish after 2 years with him. he's maybe 7 inches long) Do you think the dwarfs would be okay? it's live planted and such. I'm not sure I'd like to breed, but if I did I'm sure the ram would enjoy the snack. I even bought my 10 gal for gouramis and just never got them because I found out I'd have to be consolidating my tanks. I'd just like to add that spalsh of color. I want to spice up that tank a bit, get it better lighting, get rid of some of the gravel/flourite, get new plants, a couple new fish, new lid, new stand, etc, etc. It's just not nearly as beautiful as it could be, which is really sad considering I've had it for a couple years. I mean, my goldfish just moved into his TEMPORARY tank 3 days ago and even it looks better. in fact...it looks really nice...especially sonsidering neon plants and purple gravel... I think that's it. Sorry I write such long posts :-/
