This may be a long shot, some people think its a Juvenile GT, I need to know as im restocking and will be ordering a GT if this is an acara, Ive done some research but im finding it hard to I.D.
it drives me mad not being able to tell, some sources say the acara shouldnt have colouration on the caudal fin and most have black lines on each eye, which my other one has got
looks like a green terror to me. but i may be wrong. ive had acaras, but never had green terrors. Seeing the red on the dorsal and the tail leads me to think its a green terror.
Just to confuse things, acara can be a generic for any of the fish once described as Aequidens sp. and there may be 2 or 3 "green terrors". http://cichlid-forum.com/profiles/category.php?cat=24 Juvies look quite different from adults so it can be hard to identify them.
I have 2 acaras and they are very difficult to tell the difference especially when so young, gt's have a thicker band on their tail and a more pronounced hump on the head.
does look remarkably similar to mine, wait till it gets to about 3"+ and it will be easier to tell
