Single edge razor blade...CLR or Lime Away.....Scotchbrite pad...takes a bit of elbow grease but that is the best way to do it..

10 gallon..nothing but air
10 gallon...just more air
10 gallon...stale air

I just set up a 90 gallon that i got from a friend and it had some serious build up and a single edged razor blade took care of it all... If I use any type of chemical near my tank I always thoroughly rinse and dry my tank...

I must have some sort of weird mutant waterstains, because none of those things have ever worked for me. I never really had any problems before I moved here, but now it's severe, and can't be fixed. If I get a stained tank, it stays stained. I've tried all those ideas above and then a few others, too, but no luck. It's very annoying.

white vinegar will remove the limescale and some other marks... soak for a bit then hit with a sharp razor
