Well I posted some time ago probably 3 weeks back that I was looking for an easier water change. Well the pump that I picked up is a 1/8 also picked up a 25 foot marine soft hose and the 15 gal sturdy garbage pail, also an outlet hose shut off valve to control the volume of the output back into the tank.
It went so simple, water out from the tank into my sump pump well, then relocate the hose to the pail with the pump and 15 minutes later I am on the net and not cleaning up my usual mess from the water change. Not a drop spilled it was the easiest change since setting up in the hobby.

It was so funny my wife came to get me and I was already done and normally I am at it for a long time. I even was able to clean the glass as well. Next week I will be doing filter maintenance.

Congrats! When I have to do a water change with my 55 gallon, I do the old fashion way. With a bucket and a gravel vacuum. But I am thinking that when I upgrade to a bigger tank I am going to set it up where all I have to do is switch the valves open or close.

I wanted to do a valve system but I would have had to run plumbing over the den ceiling in the garage then over the bathroom ceiling then in the basement via the wet wall so I changed my mind and went with the fact that I would have to do it the old fashion way. I am ok with it I remove about 25-30 gallons per change on the tank works out to about 25% weekly now.
BTW LOHA the food arrived today I just went down and saw the package my kids put it on the side didnt see it earlier. I dropped in a few wafers for the cats I know they are going to love them.
