Rainbows are scavengers. I fed mine some Shrimp Pelletes, he was very happy with those. ^_^

They'll eat flakes readily. but not fromt he surface. shrimp pellets and algae wafers are a favorite. they like bloodworms, but if they are freeze dried theyll float. try to take some flakes and put them under water so they dont float on the skin of the water. it'll pick them up from the bottom of the tank.

Just regular feedings of whatever you already use should be fine. they will take about anything they find.

Oh yea, Remember they are more of a night fish so you may not always see them eat.

Just put some sinking granules in at night. They don't eat much but the food needs to reach the bottom in order for them to notice it. I've never seen my two albino red finned sharks eat for the whole year I've had them but they're still alive, so they must be living off something in there.

If you have a big enough tank with enough hiding places, pH of around 7, you can keep virtually any fish together as long as all the fish are around the same size and these two groups of fish are avioded: Serrasalmus Tetradon(figure eights and dwarfs are the exception). I keep a successful community of fish in a 4 foot tank including the following families: Cichlids, tetras, loaches, gouramis, barbs, rainbows, livebearers, killiefish, catfish, puffers. |
