I currently have a RENA XP2 Filistar Cannister filter on my 46 Planted aquaria. I was thinking about adding another XP2. I want to add more O2 to the water...
New filter Requirements: Cannot be loud - I sleep to close to the tank Must be adjustable - With plants and current fish I don't want a raging river Let me know what you think!

If the only thing you want to add is oxygen, you can get a low gph powerhead that has an airline hose that shoots bubbles. Aquaclear has a nice line of them including one with a rotating output nozzle, eheim has a ball that's compact and barely noticable.

Awesome. Any links Russian? I'll do some searching.
I thought of a Aquaclear Powerhead, but I wasn't sure if the flow was adjustable. Thanks for the input!

The Powerhead idea is what came to my mind too, two canisters is alittle overkill for that tank. I use the 301 and 401 models of the Aquaclear powerheads and they are nice. The noise factor may be a slight problem if you add full blast air imput in the water flow. If you add only abit of o2 to the flow its not very loud. With either of those models you won't have to worry about lowering the flow rate IMO. They can also be hooked up to hydro-sponge filters for aditional filteration as well. You will want to rig something up around the intake so that fish and plant matter can't get sucked up. Hagen also has prefilters made specifically for the powerheads, but the filters clog up pretty fast killing the water flow. |

I have the 802 w/reverse flow. I like it better than the penguin line, but they're okay too.
This is eheims ball i was talking about, adjustable but it doesn't state the 15degree rotation like I thought it did. I guess it doesn't rotate automatically, here's a better description of the ball. Found an attachment for the ball too. 3 pages of powerheads. Found the rotating one, Power Sweep 226 (190GPH) (Zoo-Med) and Power Sweep 228 (270GPH) (Zoo-Med).
