it should work good for everything, but the plecos if you plan on getting the ones that are normally available in pet stores. They get huge. I would get 6 corys and forget the plecos.

I don't hink the Angels and the Rams will go together. Same water conditions but both very territorial. If either tries to breed, you will find an extremely crowded tank.

You could do it with the angels and rams if you have lots of plants, rocks, wood, etc, in the tank to make territories. The angels tend towards the higher areas and the rams toward the lower. Once any of them start breeding, just watch for aggression problems. If necessary, you could get a tank divider at that point to barricade some of them off. Or by then have another tank to put the breeders in.

Another possibility would be apistos rather than rams.

Watch for size problems with the angels and neons. Small neons make excellent angel food, as I found out to my dismay.

I'm assuming you're getting bristlenose? They may very well breed in the tank, and would need a cave or hollow log for that.

The lower area could be crowded once anyone starts breeding. If there are two pair of rams, they will want their own territories. They will chase the cories out but aren't big enough to hurt them. The bristlenose will want that area for breeding as well. Just make sure there are lots of caves, rock ledges, even rocks placed on edge to make low walls to help define territory.

I assume you have the right pH, and don't put the rams in until the tank is well-cycled and aged. They are very sensitive to poor water conditions.

Hey, i wanted the angels because i wanted some larger fish for the top area of the tank, i can see now they might cause a problem, i am going to get the rams so another option for something colorful and a bit larger for a top dweller would be great if anyone knows any good mates.
also i am getting the BN and i think they are m/f, might be two male or two female.
i really want a pair of discus but im scared because eveyone says they are hard to keep alive !
i am going to have 3 large pieces of driftwood, coconut cave and some rockwork, as wel as live plants throughout.
thanks

I'm partial to pearl gouramies myself. You could get a pair. They're pretty much a top fish, they get 4 inches long. There are also blue gouramies and gold ones. Couldn't have more than a couple though, as they are a bit aggressive. Just don't get the gouramies that get huge. I haven't had much luck with dwarf gouramies though.

Other possibilities are some of the larger tetras, the flame tetras, the black skirt, the bleeding heart, or other deep bodied tetras; or a nice zippy school of pearl danios or brilliant rasboras.

dwarf gourmi's are fairly hardy as long as they are with the proper tankmates, and yes discuss is one of the hardest species of freshwater fish you can keep.

African Butterfly fish or hatchet fish, the hatchets mature at 2", and the silver hatchet at 3".

The butterflyfish is aggressive though, and shouldn't be kept with fish that can fit into its mouth. It matures at 3".
