ok, here is the deal. I recently purchased a 75 ft Python and I was interested in others experiences with it. I found the directions for operation somewhat lacking. It took me a while to figure out that I should in fact run water thru it before siphoning to purge the air out of it. Once I figured that out, it went ok, except it doesn't seem to have the suction I think it should. It will pull poop, but it takes forever(forever being about 10 mins for 10 gallons), and really doesn't sem to do as good a job as my old gravel vac. In the instructions it talks of how to dislodge fish, this thing is no way going to pick up any fish, so I wonder if I am being hampered by my water pressure. On the fill side it also take abut 10 minutes to fill, nothing I can do about that, that's all the kitchen sink will give. Can anyone offer any insight? Sorry for going so long, thanks.

Definitely your water pressure... I have insane water pressure at my house, and if I crank my Python up all the way I can suck the sand off the bottom of my tank from an inch and a half above it.
The possibility that you have a 75ft run could attribute to it as well. The clear tube the water runs through is soft, so it could be collapsing some. Honestly, I'd put my money on water pressure though. |

just so you cover all bases...
turn the water up to full blast then slowly bring it down after the suction has started you also should have a on/off valve that can regulate the flow. NOTE: should not be used as an on/off valve when adding water/filling tank. The plastic adapter and the hose won't be able to handle the pressure and you'll spring a leak; UNLESS you've gotten the brass adapter, used teflon tape and hooked up your python to a faucet permanently. |
