yea so basically I'm wonderin what you guys think is the best scavenger/bottom feeder I should get. I'm looking for something that can help keep my tank cleaner and that can go with a needlenose gar and 2 yellow tail barracudas...all of which are pretty docile unless you fit in their mouths. Any ideas, opinions?

Tank is 55 gallon....i was looking at corys just now but i think they're a little too small and will probably end up just getting swallowed whole.

I wouldnt get cories unless You get the largest cory species available. I have no idea what the largest species is. if they are swallowed their "horns" probably will get stuck in the fish's mouth, suffocating the cory and killing the other fish unless you remove it with needle nosed pliars. corys may have some armor coating, I think corydora means armored catfish, but it doesnt help if theyre swallowed whole. so make sure theyere unswallowable.

I'm not too sure on exactly what kind of baracuda this is. I thought yellow tailed were marine, is it a hujeta? Acestrorhynchus falcatus have yellow tails. They need quite a bit of room since they kind of curl into an "s" then shoot real fast darting to catch the prey.
Rapheal catfish get large enough not to be eaten. they are pigs, and may have problems with overfeeding. but you'd have to get one large enough to not be swallowed, they have spines that could get stuck in the throat. Synodontis are some pretty good cleaner-uppers. Pimelodus albofasciatus Shouldnt get eaten. I'm not too sure on how well of a cleaner-upper they are. What do you need them to clean up? fish parts? |
