Post tetras gone wild!

i noticed something weird today when i was babysitting for these two little boys at their house. they have a 10g tank with only three tetras in it. one was a young glowlight and i'm not sure of the other two. they were orange in color with a prominant dorsal fin with a black spot on it and some black on the tail and another large black spot behind the eyes. i dont know what genders they were.

anyway, i noticed one of these unknown tetras had a major part of its dorsal fin bitten off. then, i realized ALL of its fins were bitten. he practically had a stub for a tail, and almost NO fins left anywhere, although his swimming was okay. the other unknown one was fine.

i saw them chasing and nipping at each other, but the boys said the fish were "playing" and that they "did it all the time."

seems like strage tetra behavior to me. what do you think happened?

There are not enough of the species in the tank to curb agression. SOme tetras are very agressive which needs to be dispersed between a school of them. Those tetras will not last much longer in that tank without tankmates which may not fit in the tank. IMO there was not enough research done when this tank was set up.
