Default Eaten snails

What do MTS look like after a clown loach eats them? Do they eat shell and all or do they eat the snail and leave the shell? I am wondering b/c i got some snails from the lfs for my sand (to mix it) just to see if they'd be able to last with my clown loaches and i don't know if what i have now is empty shells that the fish keep moving around the tank or if they are actually still alive.

Clownsm and other loaches, eat snails by sucking them out of the shell. While they can and do eat MTS, they have a harder time because the mts has the door it can shut. The size of the clown vs the size of snail determines if the clown is able to claim victory over the mts.

My feeder goldfish actually likes to eat things whole. I'll be willing to be it would try and eat the snail whole.
Do you guys think a nice 4 inch goldfish every once in a while would be good for population control with MTS'?

thanks

In my prior goldfish tank (46 gal and 2 4" fancy goldfish) I saw large MTSs that are alive and well, but I never saw any babies. If they stay hidden in the gravel until they reach a certain size they survive, if they get brave and show themselves before reaching this size they get eaten, shell and all. I had about 10 to 15 large MTS and that number has remained basically pretty constant with the goldfish in this tank. I recently moved the fish around and the goldfish are now in a 29 gal and my tetras are housed in the 46 gal. Now I see baby MTSs in this tank everywhere, but the MTS in my 29 gal slowly disappear. In all my other tanks the MTSs have taken over the tanks to include in my 15 gal where I have dwarf puffers, they do not seem to eat the MTSs while they are small but will suck them out of the shell when large enough. I only find large ones in the puffer tank when I check the filter compartment where they seem to reproduce.
