It sound like it's one of two things. 1) A Buenos Aires tetra like solar-ton said, or 2) a dyed tetra (which you don't want...they're not healthy).

You could always just call and ask. If it's a smaller store, they're pretty good at knowing what they have in stock. I would be interested to find out what it is. I love orange fish

i had 3 dyed tetras once and they did great the dye was starting to go away but then the parasites came...i also have a blue con and a pink citrenellum and the same thing is happening...it could be a megalamphodus sweglesi or another type or subspecies

Von Rio Tetra Calling them orange may mean they are a slightly lighter color form, or they may have been fed with a food containing lots of carotene to give them an oranger color

I don't believe orange von rio's are dyed. If they are, its too bad. They truly are a beautiful freshwater fish.

I don't think they are flame tetras as already mentioned. Try asking the lfs what their latin name is. If they don't know then sod them.

Serrasalmus

exception).

I keep a successful community of fish in a 4 foot tank including the following families:
Cichlids, tetras, loaches, gouramis, barbs, rainbows, livebearers, killiefish, catfish, puffers.
