Default Light Strip Replacement bulbs

I need to replace the bulb in my 48" light strip. It currently has a black light in it, and I need regular white light. I was wondering what wattage people use, and if anyone has used "aquarium" bulbs. They supposedly have different ligting characteristics than your average 48" tube. Anyone?

The wattage doesn't change with standard fluorescents. The color and lumens can though. Try to find a bulb (though it may be hard) with a "K" rating (Kelvin) of 6500 to 10000K. GE makes a nice 9325K bulb but you may think its a little pink. Below 5000K will look really yellow. 10000K is white.

OK....I will keep that in mind...thanks. I have pretty much just bouth the cheapest bulb in the past, but for this I want the ligting to look good. I saw the aquarium specific bulb at Walmart, and it was selling for 10 as opposed to 3 for the others. I will have more info now to compare the bulbs.

just check what your light says. Usually that tells you all that you need to know. If the fixure accepts the light all you have to do is decide the brightness and the small change in color. Yes "whiter" light will usually cost mor because of the high quality.
