Default heaters

I have had good luck withTronic heaters. however the lfs decided to switch to a brand called Neptune. it is not qiuite a year old and it has just gotten thrown in the garbage. i check tank temps twice daily. Good thing too.
i found the temp up in the high 80's. the thermometer was set to 74 for the past 9-10 months.
I turned the thermostat down to 72 and it held there for a couple of days. i used it in my q tank for the past 2 days. It did ok for about 3 hours set at 74 and then decided to rise up into the 80's again.GARBAGE
let me ecourage you all to monitor your temps at least twice daily so you don't cook your fish.
This was not a cheap thermometer. It was in the $30 range.

The smaller neptunes, and indeed most smaller heaters (IME) don't work all that well. I have a 150 watt neptune that works like a champ. Its a marineland product btw, so if you arent pleased with it you should shoot them an email.
