Default Algae on Fake Coral???

What is the best way to remove algae from my artificial coral ornament? it's too prickly to scrub it with anything (i know its sort of wierd to have a coral ornament in a freshwater tank, but it looks cool ) thanks for any help!!

I have used bleach with great results. I just mix bleach with water and soak it overnight. That will kill all the algae, trust me. Someone else may come along and give you the exact ratio of bleach to water, but I usually try for a 50/50 mix.

Then, take it out, rinse it well in cold water and soak it overnight in tap water with dechlorinator in it. That should get rid of any residual bleach.

I do this regularly with my plastic plants. I keep an extra set so I can take one set out and immediately replace it. This way, the tank is not without plants for any length of time.

1 part bleach, 19 parts water. Plastic can absorb bleach so be sure to soak the ornaments in conditioned water for at least 6 hrs. Then rinse again and let dry.
