Default Looking for live brine shrimp

Hi, I have had several people tell me that feeding baby fish freshly hatched brine shrimp is good for them, but where I live, fish keepers are near extinct, like really. Sooo, I have called everyone, and all they have is frozen, or freezer dried brine shrimp. What should I do? Skip it altogether, and just feed the baby platies crushed flakes, or what, could I get it from somewehre else? The people I talked to made it sound like it would be better to have it, whats your opinion The babies are a few days old now, and seem healthy, but I want them to have a good diet! This is only the second time I've dealt with baby fish.

Thanks!

If you really want baby brine shrimp then your best bet is to hatch them yourself. You can get shrimp eggs on aquabid or ebay and if you look around on the net I'm sure you could find a DIY hatchery or you could buy one.

Personally for livebearers I wouldn't go through the hassel.

Well live baby brine shrimp are good for newborn fish and adult brine shrimp are good for a ton of fish. Really I've only known one store and it was aquarium-only that sold actual live brine shrimp. What most people do is get a kit and hatch them theirselves real simple and not expensive petsmarts should carry these but if you can't find one in town here is a link to where you can order them from or just take a look to see what I'm talking about then look for it in town.

Not that I'm aware of, we are pretty much a fishless state if you ask me. If your up in AB you may can get shrimp eggs at petsmart but other than that, I have to order everything online. I'm down in Carlsbad and our single lps carries really the bare minimum.

I don't go to AB often, but I will be up there before the end of the year, I haven't checked there PetStores yet. Here in Santa Fe, the "fish experts" don't the know the difference between male and female Bettas, try to convince you fish with fungual infection are 'supposed to be that way' etc. There was a pet store I liked here, but it burned down (Pete's Pets) I was in Los Alamos, they don't even have a pet store, currently! The fish tanks around here are as dry as the desert! Pity, I wish the state was as overun by fish as it is stray dogs (i've worked at the animal shelters!)

Well thanks anyhow, at least I know someone in the state likes fish..........
