Default 2 Guppies Dead

Yesterday I went to Petco and got 2 male guppies. Today I went to look at them and they were not there. I have a 10 gallon tank so its not too hard for me to find my fish. I have some kind of catfish (its about 4-5 inches) that is always in a castle. He usually never comes out, do you think he might have eaten the guppies and I also have a glass catfish, 2 giant danios, a pleco and a chinese algae eater. Are they safe or should I move the catfish into my second tank(10 gallons) which has two gouramis and a blue lobster.

Guppies are very fragile from the lfs. They die very easily when they are too interbread with other guppies of close genes. What are your water parameters, guppies need a higher ph.

It's obviously the catfish if you can't find the guppies. You probably knew that.

exception).

I keep a successful community of fish in a 4 foot tank including the following families:
Cichlids, tetras, loaches, gouramis, barbs, rainbows, livebearers, killiefish, catfish, puffers.

My guess is its a syno or a rapheal or eclipse catfish. anyone of those are fairly preditory on small fish. Also, FYI, in your first tank, you have many fish that will get LARGE (5-18 inches) and way to big for a 10 gallon. If the petco you are going to is suggesting those fish for the 10 gallon, I would call corporate and complain.

Agreed.

If the catfish got the guppies, it will have got it after they died, not when they were alive.

Thomas, thanks for the input, but please do not make comments if you're not absolutely sure of what you're talking about.
Most catfish are predatory fish, that means that thay will eat anything live that they can fit into their mouths.

Sorry, but I did not know that we have to be absolutely sure before we made comments ??? With respect, I thought a discussion forum was for discussion. Very often people have different opinions towards the same matters. Even for the same subject/topic, some people will say "yes, definitely". Then any reply will just point out "no" should be the answer. I am not challenging but just want to have this clarified. If this is the rule of this forum, I will follow it happily. Please could you confirm?

I now re-read the thread and know what mistake I made. Somehow, I read the word Petco and thought that it meant pleco As pleco are not aggressive fish, I made my comment accordingly. Sorry for the mistake, and I look forward to hearing your confirmation about the rule
