Default My fish...New to Sand

I just finished my tank for now with sand and minimal decor for the time being. I have a goldfish in a fairly large tank. Im new to the whole sand thing so I took every precaution I could. I used play sand from Lowes and did lots of rinsing of the sand. Let everything sit overnight before I turned on my pump/filter setup just to make sure I wouldn't get any sand in my canister and ruin the thing. My fish is in the tank now and he's been staying pretty low for a while swimming all around. Im just concerned about the sand getting into the filter. He will dart back and forth quite a bit and stir up the sand some...nothing big but should this be something to worry about with getting sand into anything??? I really don't want to ruin my filter/pump setup.

Thanks

What kind or filter do you have? If theres the intake tube you can cover the end with a sponge designed just for that. Here is another thread about it.

I have an Eheim Pro II

This morning my fish seems a little less excited to se me. He's not swimming around as much as he normally does. Just kind of sitting in the corner. Is something wrong?? Sand wont hurt my fish will it??

edit: my fish is doing better now. much happier i think
