Ok, so yesterday i messed my kribs bond/fry up, i must have either been cleaning too near their house or disturbed them too much, and the male has gone syko!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its asif he attacked the little home and held the fry hostage and chucked the female out!!! :O
I do think they have eaten the fry now though My main question is What shall i do, he attacks the female and whenever he sees her and he chases her, just like the female did with the male but a lot harder, what shall i do?????? i want to seperate them but if i move 1 of them to the 10 gallon they will attack the babys (saying that they are about 1 inch though) So please help me as soon as possible!!!!! i dont know what to do and i dont want any of them to get killed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

I would remove the male to another tank. And hope for the best.

Who needs the male? Once the eggs are fertilized you don't really need him. He's just an inconvenience basically.

I keep a successful community of fish in a 4 foot tank including the following families: Cichlids, tetras, loaches, gouramis, barbs, rainbows, livebearers, killiefish, catfish, puffers. |

He has never been allowed to help with the fry, the female always kicks his arse when she sees him, but in this case he must have been spooked
If i move him to the 10g then he will attack the babys (1 inch) because thats what he did in the other tank. but i am gonna go to the fish shop today to get advice |

Could you use a divider and keep the male and female in the same tank? Good luck getting advise at a fish shop. LOL. IMO you will get better advise here.

Then why ask? Just from the people who replied in this thread you have well over 50 years of fishkeeping and many of us have forgotten more than most (and I stress most) lfs workers have learned. This thread may come off a little harsh (and I don't mean it to be) but I don't appreaciate the fact that I took time out to try to give you a quick response and you completely ignored it.

And besides, I already told you what the problem is. The female has proven herself unworthy in the male's opinion, on account of her failure to keep YOU away from the nest, and he's trying to find out if she has what it takes to try again. It's the cichlid way, and their way is pretty rough sometimes.
You just don't go around messing in brooding cichlid's tanks, by the way. Of course, since the staff of your lfs is so smart, you already knew that. oops..waitaminute..you didn't. Oh well. |

Ok, so your solution is to get rid of the kribs??? ....Yep, that will work.
I guess your lfs had the right answer, after all. I defer to your wisdom. Good luck.... |

I would of thought you knew the answer anyway, as you run a fishforum with Chazwick or something right?.....
Na didn't think so, it's not realy a message board is it, just an amature chat room or on the lines of one.
