I have 4 young angelfish with 4 black skirts and 2 danios in a 2 month old 29 gallon tank, who all get along really well. Which you could have learned from my signature, but I said it anyway. I have a filter made for up to 55 gallons, no live plants and pretty stable water conditions. I had intended for these 10 to be it for this tank, but now I'm noticing some brown algae & an emptiness at the bottom of the tank. So, my question - is there room in here for a small pleco, or some cory cats? Or is that totally pushing it? Muchas gracias.
By the way, I know you smart hobbyists get tons upon tons of these stocking questions on here. So, thanks for helping me out & sorry if the answer should be completely obvious.

IMO with the angelfish thats way over doing it. Even if they are still young, they get a nice size. If you want to add a small pleco, I'd suggest getting rid of two of them. And cory cats dont eat algae, they just feed off of the bottom with leftover foods

There is a decent chance with 4 angels that there will be a pair. When that happens two must go. At that point other fish in the tank can be at jeopardy, esp if the angels spawn. However, I think the tetras and danios would be safe by mostly staying away. Once you have only 2 angels, letting two go now or waiting for a pair to do so, you could then add one of the smaller brisltenose plecos and be fine.
However, brown algae is usually diatoms caused by excess silicates or too little light. Brsitles dont really eat this, otocinclus do. You might try increasing your lights on time to 12-13 hrs. |
