Question Aggressive Platy

I have 2 Mickey Mouse Platys I believe both are females from what I can see on there anal fins. But the bigger of the two decided to chase the smaller one around today. Would be because it could be pregnant? Or just decided to be a mean today? Are the tell tale signs of pregnancy the same for Platys as in Guppies? It does not really look to bowed out like my female guppy looked when she was pregnant. Any ideas? thanks Paul

I have 2 female platys in my 10g also. One is Mickey Mouse the other is a 2 bar (I think that's what they're called). They are both about the same size but the 2 bar is the dominant female and she will do the same to the MM on occasion. This didn't occur until they were the last 2 platys in the tank. I think one fish wants to be dominant no matter what sex they are?

Btw....how do your guppies and platys get along?

My kids think I need more fish in the tank but my 2 frogs are a load on the bioload already.

Kay

The Platys don't even bother the Guppies at all. I figured it would be the complete opposite and the Platys would be trying to eat the fry.

Most fish will establish a dominance over the same species in a tank. Adding a few more females would be beneficial if you have the room.
