Your tank is not cycled.
Here's some info on cycling: http://www.fishforums.com/forum/gene...le-basics.html You need a big tank (200g+) because the ray needs a lot of space to swim. I implore you to PLEASE take the ray back to the store until you can get your levels fixed/tank cycled, you are doing irreparable damage to him by forcing him to go through your tank's cycle.

Stingray will do a number to a tank until it's properly cycled/adjusted.
Rays secreat so much waste, that tank has to constantly be maintained to perfect condition, water changes and filteration. Id keep up on daily water changes until it levels out. EVeryone keeps telling you that, as stingrays grow rather quickly, and need space, forget their discs' grow quite large and need space to move?
