Default a fish bowl for my fish bowl??

Hello! I'm new to the aquarium world since about 3 weeks ago. I recently got an 8 gallon biorb tank. Its a decent setup. However I've been doing some reading and discovering some new possibilities on how to set things up. Also I did a slight water change and realized some major issues with the setup of the bowl. The biorb comes with large chunks of rock for the bottom and I would like to get some smaller gravel so I can get a pleco of some sort. Also, I have an arrangement of fake plants for my small grouping of white clouds to hide in. The design of the bowl makes it near impossible for the plants to stay down, I'd reeeally like to get some aquarium-safe silicon and seal those suckers to the bottom.

What I'm hoping to get some advice on is if it would be possible to keep 4 white clouds alive outside of their home tank for ~3 days while silicon dries. I don't have another tank right now but I do have a couple aquarium buckets. The filter for the biorb is attached so I'd have to oxygenate the fish some other way.

I'm planning on getting my white cloud numbers up to about 10-12 once the biofilter can support them, but with that many fish and plants that won't stay down in such a small tank, maintinence is going to be absolute hell.

(sorry about the book)
Thanks for any advice!!
timothy

Welcome
I wouldnt put a pleco of any sort in a 8g plus I have never heard of a pleco needing smaller gravel, are you talking Corydora? To me 12 white clouds would be pushing it. Does this biorb have a filter?

As far as the other question, you can put them in your other aquarium as long as the other fish are compatible or keep them in a bucket for a day or two with an aerator or filter plugged in.

air pump and an air stone is what they are talking about, put that in the bucket to keep them alive, but you really should look into a larger tank, especially if your already trying to max out this one.

yeah, 10 white cloud is pushing it... especially the horizontal space and surface area is not big. if you can get H. formosa, they are small and group of 6 should doing good. but i don't think it is easy for you to get your hand on them except if you live in florida where they are everywhere. normal pet store pleco won't fit as they grow to around 1.5 feet

I totally agree Marypa! I don't know why they are allowed to sell some of the stuff they have out there for fish!

thanks for the chuckle!
