Nematodes.

Some people also say planaria but I think they are basicly the same thing.

And yes, they usually do show up when there's a lot of detritus in the gravel or sand bed or when water quality is going down.
Not saying your tanks water is bad though. Nematodes are present in ALL water except , i think, saltwater. So they're always going to be present, just in tanks with a lot of detritus or something they are greater in numbers.

All I can tell you is do a water change, feed less often, and gravel vac or if sand swish it up a bit.

They are virtually harmless and actually a food source and clean up crew so you don't have to worry. The only reason I hate htem is because I hate seeing them wiggle through the water and crawl on the glass....

Nematodes are in saltwater, too. In fact, they're pretty much everywhere on the planet. It has been said that if you were to remove all of the earth except for the nematodes, you could still see the earth's outline just fine.

Harmless, but they can make a mess. Just keep the front glass wiped clean and you'll hardly notice them. A gravel vacuuming and a water change will reduce their number significantly.
