Unhappy Jumping Fish

when I bought my red tail shark last week, I was told that some people call them Jumping Fish.

mine keeps jumping into the filter and occasionally out of the aquarium.

I covered all of the holes on top of the hood with masking tape, and he jumped through the tape!

what can i use to cover the holes that he can't burst through?

duct tape this time, if that doesn't work....idk

GOD I just looked at your signature, no wonder he's trying to bail out that tank is way to small! ditch the shark and get something else.

P.S. That's sweet that you have a indian mudskiper, I'm jelious!

Might try that new press and seal plastic that is used for foods. I bet that would work wonderfully. But I do agree, the 5.5 gal tank is too small for the shark, maybe not at the moment, but they grow fairly quickly.

but the maximum size is four-and-a-half inches (i've done quite enough research) so isn't 5.5 gallons all to himself enough room?

Huh, no. Max size of a red tail shark is 6" and requires at least a 35 gal tank. Please forget the "inch per gallon" rule which is totally illogical. Ex. : 6" shark in a 6 gal tank. How could he possibly move in there?

thanks for all of the help! my shark died (huge surprise, I know) so I had him replaced with a betta.
