Default heater question

Hey, I'm thinking about setting up a 10g tank, but I was wondering if I could use a 100 or 150 watt heater with it, even thought I know it only needs about 50 watts. That way, I could always reuse the same heater later with a larger tank if I wanted to. Would a heater with higher wattage overheat the water? Or would it still just shut off when the water is at the right temp? Thanks.

Also, I use a 50 gallon filter on my 29g tank - so would it be okay to use a better filter on the 10g? Like one meant for 20 or 30 gallons?

A good quality heater will do fine with 100 watts. I use them in 10 gallon tanks with no problems.

the bigger the filter the better, (up to a certain degree of course,) if you can get one for a 20 or 30 it would be great,

100% agree with you. I always use a fliter one size larger than nominal size recommended.

LMAO... I'm sure you meant 8 times an hour. Not every 8 seconds!!! heheheh Imagine the size of the unit for a 10 gal. You'd need a 4500gal/per hour unit to reach that amount. If you were kidding, it's a ?*&%*&% good one mate!!! LMAO

Cheers

Sponge... still laughing, but not at you... in all fun.

no i wasnt kiddin... my filter is so huge, the intake takes up most of the space of the tank, only room for one of those tiny fish in the other thread, and the pressure comming from the over flow, lets just say it worn the glass, so you get a cool magnafying effect so its easier to see that tiny fish.

of course im kiddin bob, im the humorous type.
