Default Fish For Ten Gallon

I have a new ten gallon tank and I was wondering what are everyones' favorite fish to keep in a tank of this size(I know its rather small but I can't keep anything bigger right now). It is heated and it could be planted with plastic or low light plants. I already have a ten gallon with serpae tetra, so I'm not completely new to the hobby. Anyone's suggestions are welcome and appreciated...

Thanks!

White cloud minnows, female bettas, black skirt tetras, dwarf puffers, or shell-dwellers.

Kim I just can`t imagine keeping Blackskirted tetras in a 10 gal they`re too big when adult size.White clouds.a piece of driftwood and lots of moss makes a nice 10 gal set up.

I'd say maybe some cory cats, and a betta.

right now i have a male red honey gourami and 6 glowlight tetras. i'm going to eventually move them into a 20 gallon and add a few more fish and put a divider in my 10 gallon for my two male bettas.

In my ten-gallon I have one panda cory, one otocinclus, one bristlenose plecostomus (not really a good idea for most plecos because most get too big), three bleeding heart tetras, and a moneywort plant. in my five-gallon i have two dwarf platies, one betta, and a gold mystery snail.

one thing i would advise you not to get is guppies. it may seem good that they survive well and you get a lot of baby fish but after a while it is awful. they are what i started off with when i got really interested in fishkeeping, and now i am just trying to get rid of them.

Sorry if I didn't help,
Mariah

1 Dwarf Gourami
3-5 guppies

Option 2
Two female bettas
Danios for dither fish

for the people suggesting cories:
one or two is not enough. Cories are schooling fish and should be kept in groups of 5+.

When I'm done using my 10 for a quaratine tank I'm going to get a betta, 5 or 6 white clouds, and some ghost shrimp. I'm now painfully aware of how small a 10 gallon actually is!

dwarf gourami is not a good idea with guppies since guppy's tail will be attack by the dwarf gourami, those gourami are not nice fish

2 female bettas is the worse idea ever. the danio will not help the betta. if the female betta want to kill the other female betta, nothing will stop her. female betta are much more aggressive than you think.

remember that guppies are livebearers and they breed fast, even if u don't have a male in the tank, the females can have fry more than twice after fertilization. So be prepared if u have guppies! =0

Lots of people keep female bettas together. It's no problem as long as you don't overstock with them. I'd only put 2 in a 10gal, and they each need a "home" just like male bettas.
