Default Hard Water Stains IN Tank.

How can you remove hard water stains from inside your aquarium. As you can see from the pics below, the stains are making my water look hazy when it is not. Any ideas?

How do you know that it's not the water that is hazy?

Wow....short of draining the tank, I don't know what to tell you. I have very hard water here too, and have some staining, but you can really only see it when the glass is dry (when the water level is down a little.). Problem is, you really need to disovle the film, but obviously the usual vinegar and elbow grease won't work here.

I have a quick question, is your glass clear or cloudy when you take the water level down? If it's cloudy that is the tough one, if it's clear, try this.

This may sound silly, but try cleaning your hood, or what ever you have between the light and the water. I once had this issue on a smaller tank. WhenI cleaned the hard water staining off the glass that sat between the water and the light, problem was solved. I was told that the staining diffused the light in such a way that the water appeared cloudy. No harm in trying it.

As far in what to use. I use vinegar and elbow grease, and sometimes a razor blade for those really tough spots.

Good Luck, nice tank by the way...

Ahh....tha may be something. I did have that happen too. Particularly on plastic/plexiglass hoods. Forgot all about that.
