I have posted recently about my tiger barbs being sick, and my water having gotten very cloudy afterwards. Today is the first day I notice the water is completely clear, and the fish look like they are doing very well. Now I am left with only 3 tiger barbs and 4 red minor tetras, and I feel as if I should get more barbs because I want them to be happy, and I feel as if it is only a matter of time until the bullying starts again. I would like at least one more. I also am having a bit of an algae problem and was considering getting some ottos ( which I had in the past but unfortunately lost them ) or a "midnight"....something pleco...I was told that these plecos are small enough to go in a 10 gal, and they look pretty cool too. Now someone mentioned that 4 red minor tetras, 5 tiger barbs and a few ottos would be overstocking the tank, however I never had a problem with it, and the fish were doing well until a few unfortunate events cost me a few fish. I had a lot of fighting amongst two dominant tigers, and had to get rid of one, and when I attempted a new one my tank he brought along a disease which I am still unsure of what it is, all I know is that it is a fungus of a sort. Now I will quarantine....believe me, I'm not taking that risk again, but How long should I wait to bring in new fish? I don't want to cause additional stress, or to risk the newbie dying on me. thanks...

What size it the tank?
If big enough I would get 3 ottos and 3-5 more tiger barbs

If this tank is 10 gallons, then yes the tank is overstocked. Tiger Barbs need a 30 gallon tank minimal to house the required amount of them needed to stem agression (6). The serpae tetras could school pretty well without the barbs. You could add 2 more of them and some cherry shrimp. That will take care of the botttom cleaning and keep the bio load down. Otocinclus (sp) don't do well in a 10 gallon tank as they are easily affected by water conditions.
