i am doing a fish in cycle with a betta and snail. i have had them in there since saturday night. i have noticed that the water has evaperated some. now the filter isnt so close to the water, so its making a bigger splash. i know bettas dont like much current and the current seems pretty strong now that its almost an inch from the water.
can i safely add about 1/2 to 1 inch of water treated with just chlor out? will that mess with my cycling any or hurt my fish?

actually, you should be doing almost daily water changes to keep the ammonia and nitrites as low as possible if your doing a fishy cycle. it will not effect your cycle at all, in fact water changes can keep the cycle from stalling, as too much ammonia, nitrites, or nitrates can harm your good bacteria as well as your fish.
