Default thermometer broke?

my glass thermometer broke today and the little metal pellets used to wiegh it down fell free into the aquarium. will the beads kill my shrimp? or stress them alot?

I'd suggest you try something like a gravel vac to remove them as long term they will leach metals-hopefully the metal isn't lead but the same as lead free weights as used in fishing( lead banned because it poisoned swans/ducks)

it sucks! i've broken a few of these hence the switch to digital lcd's now instead. I've tried to find most of the lead balls.

a note on themometers, the cheap ones are very inaccurate- I use a lab immersion thermometer from a home brew shop or digital one which showed the cheep aquarium themometers for what they were-junk

would agree gravel vac usualy does the trick or just remove that hole section of gravel just incase. i have seen many of those break and it is usualy harmless unless the fish eat them

i would get the name of the thermometer, go back to the store you bought it at, look at a new one, get the consumer help number off the back, call them and ask... most products have a "help" line on the back of there box.
