Post how much sand???

I finally got my 75gallon tank and am setting it all up this weekend and i was just wondering if anyone could give me an estimation on how many lbs of sand i would need for my C.A. cichlid setup, thanks.

I know they say you should only have about 1-2 inches of sand due to gases being able to build up underneath and if I remember correctly, that is about 1.5 lbs per gallon

75 gallons, i think about 40 lbs would be ok. im not sure its not really the gallon amount as much as the footprint. 20 gal long uses more than a 20 tall. so... well try about 40 lbs if you have a little left over, or not quite enough, its not to hard to get it just right.

alright thanks for the reply....i was thinking of buying 40lbs at 1st but i just wanted some opinions.....tank is 48x18x21

wanting 2" i'd push for closer to 70 lbs personally. It took two bags of sand to fill my 55g to the black trim part on bottem. 40lbs it took to do the 55g. one 20lb bag for my 29g. i am just about to do my 75g as well, i only have two bags left i already know im going to need two more bags at least lol.

hey there you go... i was just estimating, i put 60lbs in a 46. yea i know... ended up pulling way more than half that out, and still had a deep bed for my cichlids to dig in. so i figured 40 but go for more, mp knows better.
