My only suggestion is sort out your other tank first before thinking about setting up more tanks

If you have a big enough tank with enough hiding places, pH of around 7, you can keep virtually any fish together as long as all the fish are around the same size and these two groups of fish are avioded: Serrasalmus Tetradon(figure eights and dwarfs are the exception). I keep a successful community of fish in a 4 foot tank including the following families: Cichlids, tetras, loaches, gouramis, barbs, rainbows, livebearers, killiefish, catfish, puffers. |

Sorry but i have to agree. You could maybe take the goldfish out and put them in to the 10 and make it a coldwater tank. Anyway why are you keeping coldwater and tropicals together? I work in litres so its harder for me to say.

I agree with the others. The only fish I would keep from your original tank are the platies.
I would take care of your tank now before setting up another. I don't think a 30g will do. The balas and ID's need a huge tank. Iridescent sharks get about 50 inches long. So really they need like a 300g tank (maybe smaller...but somewhere close to that). Balas get around 14 inches so the 5 you have need atleast a 75g. Goldfish get big, if you want to keep all 4 I would get atleast a 75g for them. I suggest getting rid of the goldies, balas and iridescent sharks, unless you can provide a tank of the appropriate size. To keep all of these fish together, you would need a huge tank (mainly because of the ID's). So please think about what these fish need. Please do some research before setting up another tank. |

how big are the goldfish??? if they are not to big throw them in the ten gallon for now, get rid of some of the crowd.
if i were you, try and make a tote tub tank for you goldies, get a 60 gallon or so(i love tote tanks...) the goldies should love it. |

Or you could use the 10 gallon tank to help "sort out" your 85 gal. You could take a little pressure off of the ecosystem anyway.
