I am not sure if I should do this or not, I started a 2.5 Gallon tank to cycle about a week ago, there is no heater in it yet, I pulled a filter that was given to me with my 60g tank out, I cant use it on the 60g so I stuck it in the 2.5g, If i recall right lots of filters and air bubbles is good for helping the cycle along, there is no fish in the tank, just the Lg filter and airstone. now this filter i would think is for the 60g so there is some major over filteration going on. What I wa thinking about doing is swithing the filter systems with my cycled 10g tank. It could use the over filteration since there very messy eaters, thats if the filter i recived is for 60g, how would putting a pretty much new filter into the tank work? i would leave all the water and gravel. or would that put the 10g into a cycle again? it's finally balance and I dont want to have to start from scratch again. am I best off leaving it as everything is till the little 2.5 is cycled also then switching them? I know I have to get a new filter for the little tank but got to wait for payday, and i am in no big hurry i planned on having to wait around 4 weeks for the little tank.

if you switch them now, your ten gallon will go through a mini cycle, you should have lots of bacteria in other places, best bet would be to put BOTH filters on the ten, wait untill the new one is cultured good, then put the smaller one on the 2.5,
