Default tank setup...

does this sound like an alright tank setup for a 15 gallon? 1 platy, 1 swordtail, 1 molly, 1 guppy, 3 gouramis, and 4 cories (the only reason i would have the lone molly and the lone guppy is because i already have them)....i know that is kind of a lot but i would be doing alot of water changes....does it sound alright or should i only have one or two gouramis with the other fish instead of 3?....any suggestions?

i recommend getting 1 or 2 more of each of those lonely fish, just 1 or 2 because they will than mate and have more, and you will be stocked, and maybe 5-6 cardinal tetras

For a first cut, just do some simple arithmetic. You know the game: multiply adult size of fish times number of them, and add it all up for the different kinds of fish. I bet you anything your sum is over 15". Remember, an overstocked tank results in stressed fish, which can come down with diseases like ick more easily. Since you've been battling ick, you know how bad it is when your fish get sick.

Why not get some friends for your molly and guppy, to bring the total adult size up to 15"?

i was hoping i could get some gouramis but i guess i need to get a bigger tank if i want to do that....i seem to have bad luck with guppies, which is why i havent gotten anymore....but maybe i should try again....i really like guppies....so yall think i should just stick with guppies platies and mollies....do yall think i should get 2 more cories? and also do you think gouramis should be kept in groups too? or is it all right to just have one of those, like maybe a honey gourami? i really appreciate yalls help....sorry i keep on having to ask yall questions...i know its probably getting annoying...i just dont want to mess up...thanx again!

A pair of Dwarf gouramis are fine in that tank... but I would get a group of one or two other kinds of fish. Such as 5 cories, or tetras, or platies.

Hey, Im new here :P

Anyway, I'd suggest buddying up the fish you already have, with guppies I'd probably get a group going, and by the way how come you haven't had luck with them?

I bought a red eyed tetra the other day, and he's isolated himself from the rest of the community, I'll probably be returning to the store to buy a pal for him

You could get a couple of dwarf gouramis like mentioned above that would work out perfect, I dont think they need to swim in groups.

And why would you be doing a lot of frequent water changes?

Red eye tetras need to be in schools, Elf... which is not 2 but 5-6+ or more...

Thanks for the info, but 4 will have to do, considering they get to be about 2 1/2 inches I am just about at my limit with fish in my 28 gallon. I need to upgrade anyway, my pleco is getting very large and needs more room (he's about 6-7 inches)
