I dont know how it happend but my alkalinity readings are off the chart. It reads 16 DKH!. My Calcium levels are at 500 and all other parameters are okay. What do i need to do to lower the alk? Does high alk hurt my corals?

yikes!!! I'd make some smaller water changes with just plain RO water and salt... looks like an o.d. on calcium (you want it to be around 410ppm). The alk should come down along with the calcium.

If it will help any, to maintain calcium and alkalinity i use kalwasser. I will try to do a water change and see what happens.

your slightly overdosing... do some water changes with just your salt, no additives

could the salt mix im using is causing this problem? I use instant ocean. Oh yeah i forgot to say that i recently switched from tap water to RO water to do water changes. Maybe this change caused the problem.

i found a formula on the net that says to change from dkh to ppm multiply by 21.8. So if i have 16dkh that would be 348 ppm. Thats about the same as yours reads.
