What type of test do I need to insure Coraline algae growth ? And what should my S.G be at?

i only test for nitrate's ,alkalinity and calcium, i have other test kits but never end up using them,

Mg seems to be the limiting factor... Ca and Mg keep rather high and you'll get good growth, although I would find a test kit for the Mg before you go dosing it.
