Default gyre flow

I have been having trouble getting my flow right lately and I was sent to this article. Due to the shape of my tank and the location of my over flow I have yet to figure out just how to do it in my tank, but from what I can see I agree with the method. Especially after taking a look at how water flows around Australia and the great barrier reef.

take a look

From this it seems like we would be using smaller pumps to get more flow, but to get the correct amount of flow...I am still not sure. I tried googling the idea, but nothing came up. It's obviously a pretty new and unknown idea, but I think it just might work.

thats pretty much what i was talking about, its more important to have a smooth swift current, pushing the corals around lightly, then adding 15 powerheads all aimed at eachother, and the current fighting each other and beating the crap out of everyone.

Ok, well i got some timers and have set up my pumps as suggested in the article and OMG!!!!

If U like to see happy coral this is a must. All of the coral are getting the proper movement, nothing too much, nothing too little. and when it switches pumps...omg

so perfect! and the water is even clearer!
