Default Random fish deaths :(

I'm so sick of this! Every now and then, I wake up in the morning, look in the tank, and find another dead Aspidora. CO2 levels have been constant, no more fluctuations (this killed one or two in the beginning, a couple of months ago) But for some reason these fish are dropping like flies. No symptoms, water quality is fine: Ammonia 0, Nitrite 0, Nitrate 20. I do 30% water changes weekly. Any clues?

Well, how old are they? If no other explanation can be found, perhaps its old age. I think the lifespan on them is like 5-6 years, but its possible.

I think you might be right, COM :\ I really like these little guys, too.

hacket- they're fairly young, when I bought them, they were tiny, around a half inch. Now the biggest one is about an inch. I got them only like, 3 months ago.

Yeah, but she knows what she's doing; that's a lot of death. How many did you start with?

Do you think your nitrates ever get higher than 20? I've had issues with more sensitive Cory species and nitrates around 40ish. Not considered high, but Cories didn't appreciate that reading.

have you measured your co2 levels yet..many species of cories need high oxygen levels;and are pretty sensitive to any lack of DO in their environment.and check your DO also to see where it is at...

Yeah, I'd write it off as a weak bunch of fish. It's about time for another school of something small, though, so there is a bright side.

I might try to get them again, and see how that goes. I'm gonna beef up the Harlequins school, maybe up to 10 even. You've inspired me to push the limits a little, COM
