I decided it was time to put my two pregnant female guppies into my 3-Way Breeders tank. (The one with the grate for the fry to fall through). I decided a few hours after putting them in there that I wanted to see if I could see the baby eyes with the flashlight like I have been reading about on here. As I go to take a look at my first female guppy, I see OUTSIDE the 3 way breeder a little orange fry! I do have 2 balloon mollies one male one female, and 2 female and 2 male platties, but I didn't think those females where pregnant because I couldn't see a gravid spot on any of those females. Anyways. I decided to try and take out one of the guppies from the breeder tank and put in th fry on one side. As I went to catch the fry he swam away and I lost him. I am hoping that he found a good hiding spot and wont get eaten because I looked for 20 minutes and couldn't find him. Just wanted to get out my frustrations and sadness. So now my female guppies are in the tank and I am hoping for some fry babies soon.

Hate to necro-post but I had a problem catching fry when the guppies in my tank at work gave birth. all the little fry went and hid in the gravel. SO, busted out my trusty gravel vac and sucked them all into a bucket where they were easier to catch =D. Hope this helps for the next time ur guppies breed again.

LLB:
IMHO your activities were not good for the fry or the other fish. Please think "Floating Plants"! If you need some I will send them to you if you promise to take care of them. These are the best which I currently have encountered as the fry very literally disappear into the root mass. LLB: Please note that the photograph is the vendor's. The root tentacles on my plants are approximately 1/2 the length depicted in the photograph. TR BTW: I have several other species of floating plants which the female guppies enjoy hiding in immediately prior to and while they are bearing. ![]()
