I have 3 pairs about a year old. One pair is working on their 4th spawn, the second pair is working on their 2nd spawn and the third pair I don't think are going to do anything. In fact I'm not sure if the third "pair" is even a m/f pair. The smaller one doesn't have hardly any color and I really can't tell if it's a male or female. The dorsal fin looks long and pointed with color extending all the way to the tip but the caudal fin isn't showing the spade shape and it has the "peac0ck eye" spot on the fin like my other females. I'm beginning to think it's a hermaphrodite. lol
I'll be trading those two off soon anyway since I don't have room in the 55 gal tank for three spawning pairs.

I'll try to get some decent pics of the parents and a shot of the 30 fry in the grow out tank.

Oh here's a question for you...Have you ever heard of a female stealing and raising another females babies? I had one recently do that.

Actually i have! I have neevr had mine do that. But it happen's with convict's too, but they dont do it on purpose( i dont think) If you have 2 pair's in the same tank, the babies have a good chance that they will get mixed up with the other one's, which result's in 2 different aged babies in 1 batch! Is that what happend to your Krib'S. Or did she literally come over pick them up and swim away? So, what did you think of my Krib Page? Im new here, so i dont know exactly where it goes.

I think she stole them on purpose. The smaller female wasn't as good at defending her brood as the dominant one and they would meet in the middle and spar for a bit before the smaller one would give up. The dominant female was always sneaking over to the other ones side of the tank and I think she lead them away. One day she had about 20 and the other one had maybe 8 or so and the next day the first one had about 30 or so of two different sizes. lol (BTW for clarification...dominant female #1's name is Akasha and smaller female #2's name is Claudia...named after the Vampires. LOL I also have Vlad, Radu, Lousie and LeStat).

I think the thread should probably go in General Freshwater but I'm sure a mod can move it for you.

There has recently been an increase in posts about kribs so I think your post may be very helpfull for someone who is new to keeping them.

I think it should go in the Cichlids section and not the Hatchery, since its not about fry.....

I suggest doing some spell checking on it, as I see some mispelled words.
