Default Don't ask me how I did it

I came home from a long day at work to find two of my glass cats doing some sort of dance around my amazon sword in my 29G. Odd I thought, maybe sickness? So I checked my water, and there was a big nitrAte spike up to 50ppm. Under closer inspection there are hundreds of little eggs on the amazon sword plant, and the glass cats are actually being semi-aggressive towards the tetras and danios coming near their plant. Maybe I'm just imagining this? I hope not!

That is cool....

What is up with that 10g stock? Is that a typo? Please tell me that is a typo. That has to be a typo. You have 100g right? You don't have that stock in a 10g do you?

Not only is that tank grossly...I mean grossly over stocked but the stock itself is out of wack.

Ghosts/Glass Cats should be kept in groups of five or more.

Each species of Cory should be kept in groups of five or more.

I'm sure someone else can tell you what is wrong with the rest of it. Those are just the two species that I house. I'm assuming this has to have already been addressed....

This has already been adressed, and I'm kind of sick of everbody throwing around the "overstocked" word here so much. No it is not a typo, yes it is a 10G, and rght now, all of the fish are actually thriving.

Keep in mind that people aren't trying to attack you, they're also members of this hobby who want to see the best for these animals. There's no reason to get defensive. And no one says a tank is overstocked unless it is, like your 10. But I know you intend to buy another tank. Maybe you should put that in your sig.

lol, You've got to understand everyone here is concerned for the fish's health so of course they will ask you about it. My suggestion is to just take it out of your sig until it's been fixed.

And since I was one of the first to bring it up, in his defense they were housed better and he had a tank failure and had to put them somewhere. While it's close quarters it's better than 15 dead fish! Wouldn't you agree?

If you read the threads by poor Justin he has had to address his 10 gallon tank in every single thread. It must be tedious for him. Maybe people just can't remember things across threads.

Justin: In your signature write up a brief explanation until your new tank has the inhabitants in it. Perhaps this will encourage folks to read. I mean they are reading your stock list, so maybe that will help.

LOL Chris. I tried to expand that shoal, and the others died Every now and then I look at them and go "I really need more!" But I have not gotten around to it.

Woo Hooo Justin, that change will hopefully help. Now that you are setting up the 75 LOL.

I know the feeling Obs. My LFS is having a half off life stock sale this weekend so I plan on getting my glass cat, and cories up in numbers.

Yep, a 75g is more than enough room. Sorry for giving you a hard time.

Glass cats spawning is way cool. Always seem to be listed as rare or difficult. Maybe they needed the trigger of losing the air. Write it up for your local club's newsletter. In the meantime, try to find some tiny "starter food" (live is best), just in case you get fry.

I think my firemouth and pearl danios did a great job of cleaning up the eggs, but it was really neat because every website online says rare to impossible, and most say hasnt been done in captivity, but i witnised it!

Yep, way cool.

Here's an idea: just get rid of your signature until you can get everything fixed. Problem solved.

the spawning in captivity usually also refers to them actually hatching as well, and depending on the source, whether or not they were raised to adulthood. The eggs still may have been infertile .

I have had many fish lay eggs for me, but I wouldn't say I have spawned them, lol.
